A Boy and His Cat

About a month ago I "discovered" Bushie Cat. Since then we have forged a strong friendship. Although, Bushie is maybe a little less devoted to the relationship than I am. Check out me checking out Bushie Cat:

Happy Half-Birthday to Me!!!!

Can you believe I was born six months ago today?!? Mom and Dad say they are so amazed at how fast I am growing and how different I am from when I first arrived. To celebrate my half-birthday I went to see Dr. Mina for my six month check up. It's hard to believe that when I left the hospital I was a mere 5 lbs 15 oz. and now I am a whopping 15 lbs 14 oz! I'm also 26" long, which puts me in the 50th percentile for height (I'm still only in the 25th for weight).
Another cool thing about me today? I cut my first tooth! Mommy felt it while we were waiting on the nurse at my checkup. She looked in my mouth and sure enough, there was a tooth! That's good because I love to eat big people food and I'm going to need those teeth soon. I am working on Stage 2 foods now and will eat almost anything, except for ham. I didn't like the ham.
I try to move around as much as possible these days. I can roll from my tummy to my back and am very close to rolling from my back onto my tummy but my arm usually gets in my way. And since I can't quite crawl yet, I like to move myself around in circles doing "the pelvic thrust." Mom will have to get it on video sometime because she says it's quite funny.
Well that's all the update I've got for now. To round out my Olympic series, here is one final picture of me tackling sporting events. Equestrian! I also start swimming lessons in two weeks, so move over Michael Phelps!

And for my next trick....Gymnastics!

Check out that stuck landing! It's a perfect 10...well actually, it's a perfect 10 for execution plus my 6.7 start value for a score of 16.7...but you know what I mean.

Baseball

Did you know this is the last year for baseball and softball to be in the Olympics? Obviously, I'm against it...

Go Team U.S.A.!!!

How excited are you about the Summer Olympics?!? I am super excited and so are Mom & Dad. They love to watch the swimming and diving, Mom loves the gymnastics, and Dad likes women's beach volleyball (he says I will too one day).

Anyhow, in celebration of the Olympics I thought I would try my hand at some sports. Here's my first attempt....TENNIS!!!

Stories from the Sunshine State

We are back from Florida and we had a great time--even if we didn't get much by way of rest! What a big trip for me. In a matter of seven days I had my first airplane ride, my first beach vacation, my first time in the pool, and even my first trip to Disney!

The trickiest part of our vacation was just getting there. On Wednesday morning Dad, Mom, and Grammie hauled all of my stuff plus all of their stuff plus me into the airport. The folks at security were very helpful and patient as we unloaded everything onto the x-ray belt. Do you know how much stuff it takes to go on a week-long vacation with a baby? Nonetheless, we made it on the airplane on time (which is more than my Grammie can say for her trip up here, by the way) and I got to fly for the very first time:

I was pretty good on the plane and only had a few "flare ups." For the most part I just slept through it all. Once we made it to Florida we dropped Grammie off at her house and headed straight for the beach.

The next day was my first time going in the ocean and I wasn't that into it at first.
I was pretty tired and a little grumpy
After awhile, however, I seemed to get the hang of being a surfer dude.

I also went in the pool for the first time. Just like the beach, I was a little too tired to enjoy the pool at first. The next day, however, we went in again and I started liking it a bit more.

In fact, I got so comfortable with it that I even fell asleep in the pool!

We all had a great time at the beach visiting with our family and friends but on Saturday it was time to pack up and head for Grammie's house. After all, I still had a lot more people to visit. Saturday evening we drove over to Daytona to visit with some of Mom & Dad's friends and their little boys, Evan and Carson. They're pretty cool kids, so I'm hoping I can be as cool as them one day.

The next day Papa & C-Sue and Aunt Terri came to visit me. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures with them, but that's just because we were busy having a great time together. We had a mini-celebration for Grammie & Aunt Jamie's birthdays. Mom wouldn't let me have any cake. She says I should probably get some teeth first. Speaking of teeth, did you know I am a drool monster? That's what everyone calls me, anyways. They say it's because I'm going to get teeth soon. Cool, huh?

Anyhow...on Monday, Aunt Jamie, Mom, & Dad decided to do something very silly. They decided to take me to Disney...in August!!! Mom wouldn't let us go to the Magic Kingdom, because she wants me to be old enough to enjoy it when I go for the first time, so we went to Hollywood (aka MGM) Studios instead. It was HOT and CROWDED but we had a good time anyways. I really liked watching the parade and dancing with Mom.

Aunt Jamie bought me some presents too. Aunt Jamie, I'm sorry we still didn't get any new pictures together, but here I am holding the Mickey Mouse that you bought me!

My favorite part of Disney was not Mickey, however. What was it? The park map, of course! While we were watching the Beauty and the Beast show (mainly because it didn't require standing in line in the heat) the only thing that kept me happy was eating the park map. Dad tried to take it away from me because he didn't want me swallowing paper and BOY was that a mistake!

So now we're home and trying to get a little rest from our vacation. Hope you enjoyed my pictures. As always, there are more here: http://www.katieandadamshores.shutterfly.com/
