L & A in Lincoln Park

After one crazy, hectic week it was nice to have some downtime this weekend with my guys (check out our fun projects in the post below). To make the weekend even better, I got to spend this afternoon chasing two crazy, hectic kiddos through Lincoln Park. What a great life, I have! As you can see, L & A were completely adorable (and really FAST! Thanks guys for helping me get my exercise.) But seriously, how can you resist those infectious smiles!

Cheap Entertainment

I'm always looking for new activities to do with Max on the weekends (especially ones that do not involve watching tv, which he is very big into right now). And since I'm not made of money, it's nice to get creative with things you already have in the house. Thought I'd share a few of the fun (and totally cheap) things we did today, in case anyone else is looking for new ideas!

First, we played Go Fish, only not the kind your thinking of. This game involves paper fishies (which Max helped me color), magnets (okay, I did not have these in the house, but they were cheap) and a paper clip on a string, er...I mean fishing pole! We caught our fish by color ("Max, can you catch a purple fish?") but you could do numbers, letters, shapes, whatever!

We also did a little art project using an old Parents magazine I had laying around. Max loved picking out the pictures he wanted and gluing them on his paper. Check out the finished product at the bottom, along with a Max-to-English guide to interpretation!

Official Max-to-English Guide to Art Interpretation
Top row: 1) some temmy ghams = teddy bear; 2) some cyat = cat
Middle row: 1) some nannas= bananas; 2) some lotion = soap; 3) pink juice = pink juice; 4) some blue = blue dots; 5) some loons = some balloons (although it's actually a flower)
Bottom: 1) some shocker ba = soccer ball (and lots of them); 2) some red = red dots; 3) some booshie cyat = bushie cat
